Conspiracy theory time …..

I’ve noticed over the last while that the scene is starting – again – to show us the side that we all love to hate.

Yes the bitching is back.

Now don’t get me wrong, a small part of the scene will always involve that, but when it becomes obvious that the in-fighting on some sites is now starting to tear up the fabric of the teams, that is when it needs to be sorted.

It’s known that I am an Admin at a site, but over the last few days it has become obvious to me that there is a problem with the choices made in some of the staff these sites have.

Is it me (it usually is) or are the average ages of the staff teams getting younger and younger?

The 15/16 year olds who think they are able to mod a site in the same way that other with the years of “experience” do.

The 15/16 year olds who think that they know the scene much better than the rest of us.

The 15/16 year olds who think that because they’ve won the EPL/La Liga/SPL/Whatever 5 times deserve to be a mod on a site.

The 15/16 year olds who think that because they’ve made a great post deserve to run a site in the manner that they think works without asking others for their opinions.

I could go on, but I’m not ready for a liable suit against me this week!

It would be nice if the scene instead of giving these guys a staff position straight away after a few posts or because they happen to be best mates with an admin on a site some sort of trial before they actually give them the position.

Gah!

Maybe I should have done the same thing as well over at the site I’m at!

For once I’m not having a whinge at the Putzy’s of the scene who do everything to get noticed, nope we’re talking about Football Players.

No not those little dots you think you are managing to greatness on your 17″ TFT but the real ones. In a similar ilk of remembering back to the good old days of CM4 and CM 03/04 when all us fans went out and spent £5 on a shiny magazine with a CD on the front (No not those kind of magazines), yes I mean the Official CM magazine.

Now one of the really cool features was an interview with a footballer who played CM. They were asked all the generic questions like do you start as <insert own team here>? Do you try and buy yourself? Does the game accurately recreate your playing style? yadda yadda yadda you get the idea.

Well this has got me thinking, There must still be players out there who are partial to a bit of the ol’ FM and enjoy finding out how gamers rate them. So amongst our many regulars throughout the scene is lurkers who are actually in the game, unlike 90% of you that wish you were a professional footballer let alone included in FM.

So just think all those forum posts you’ve made slating your favourite player for “being shit” on FM may have actually read your posts (Is probably why he doesn’t score anymore but meh you should support a decent team). How many players now think they’re the best thing since sliced bread after reading all these positive player reviews around the Scene? Let’s be honest I’ve never read a negative player review mainly because if the players not already well known people can’t be arsed to write about them.

There’s 300,000+ people in the database yet it’s the same old players that are reviewed. Why not write about those guys in League 2 who play FM as it’s the only way they can live the dream of playing in the premiership. One day maybe one of lurkers might even feel safe enough to actually post – shock horror, a professional footballer posting on a forum with football fans. Chances are there’s already has been a few but you’ll never know!!!

Now I’ll help out all the 8 year olds on the scene that don’t remember last week let alone CM4, back in those days you couldn’t download skins to “pimp out” your FM game but you could download these wonderous things called Menubars.

Now these menubars were the bees knees, for the first time in our CM careers we could go on an 11 match losing streak and not care. Mostly because we weren’t concentrating on the game so much because the cleavage of some young lady was starring at us whilst Lionel Morgan was setting up 20 goals a season.

Where’s all the fun of graphics making on the scene gone? when it was menubars, there was one for everybody. Favourite teams, Favourite players, Page 3 birds, Ugly birds, actors, singers, your neighbours grannies best mate from bingo. So where is this “fun”? These days it seems to be a challenge to become the most advance graphics maker of all time.

As a little aside Rob has promised to marry the first person to make a Page 3 skin for FM2007.

Google is promoting it’s Summer of code and Channel 4 is promoting Big Brother. So we’ve decided to make a bit of a comeback for at least the summer!

Our aim? Well I’ve got two mainly, the first is to out blog Rob until the end of Big Brothers Run and the second is to keep you all from commiting suicide throughout the run of Big Brother.

What can you expect coming up? Abuse, entertainment and general fun I presume but you never know I might actually get round to writing something serious (Actually whilst we’re on that subject, The world according to Cloughie is now archived on this very server. It was a very brief entrance into the world of semi seriousness from me and I might revisit it one day).

One of the sites that’s been around the longest, 3 years now (Fuck knows how when they rely on downloads “As main content”.

Anyway I’m divulging in to crap and it’s only taken you ten seconds to get this far!

Mikedadude (you couldn’t make it up if you tried) has decreed that slagging of other sites is “the out thing” and hardcore fm content is the new “thing”.

Funny that from a site that doesn’t write shit but then complains when “2 minute blogs” get more coverage than “we’ve got 2million downloads in 3 years” – big fucking woop I’ll put a porn video up here tomorrow and it’ll get 2 million hits in 3 days.

Point is people write about what they want and if we’re happy about ranting about shit – let us do it. It’s not hurting anyone (unless it’s Jordo raping people again).

As it’s been said sooooooooo many times before there is only so many times you can recycle guides to make it look like new content so we’ve divulged – long may it continue that worthwhile opinions in our little community are personal ones than someone copying the team information screen and posting it somewhere as “the best football manager guide you’ve ever seen in your entire life”.

Now scuttle off back to the site with the clever meta tags and actually write something that’ll get your site it’s “15 minutes of fame”. Remember content is king and without you’re just a sore loser!!!!

This TI debate seems to have got out of hand – some like it, some don’t.

But I’m going to look at it as an outsider!

TI seems to be a place where – in reality – if your face or stance doesn’t fit, it isn’t worth listening to you.

I’ve been a member on TI for nearly a year and I have no complaints about that but…

It seems to be one of those places that I’ve visited over the last few years, cough*Susie*cough*Dugout*cough*Get-Manageing*cough, that has a very staid clique.

God forsake the day that I fall into that category, but TI has.

If your not “with” the staff your not anyone.

Thank goodness that there is other sites on the scene that seem to have a friendlier point of view – Manager Crisis, Weegie, Susie – even the SI forums!

If TI ever get to the stage where the people running it take they’re own heads out of they’re arse then they may realise that there is a site where people might want to stick to.

If TI is the place that “newbies” come to first then I’m worried for the scene.

It is actually the last place I would recommend people post if i was asked -thankfully I never am or TI wouldn’t be getting many new members.

I seem to remember this happening to various other sites on the scene and it was shot down quickly, but it seems to me that this is an on going problem with TI – and dependent on the people running it may be for a while.

I’m not a “scene whore” like some people claim Q to be, I’m just someone who wants to find somewhere they can call “home”.

If the boys from TI have a problem about that then fine – I don’t give a fuck, as I for one want to be happy at the place I call my FM home.

Actually I’d rather cancel all my accounts at all the FM sites I’m registered at than call TI home!

I’ve been treated there as nothin more than a “newbie” for all the time I’ve been there even tho I remember SI producing games for the Amiga in 1992 – When I started playing them!!!!!!!!

Either I’m old or there are people the same age as my daughter (11 if your wondering) running the scene.

If that’s the case then god help us all.

Seriously, I mean that!

First things first, Bugger the forums and the content – everybody has discussed that until they are blue in the face.

My bug bear is the staff. Yep, every single one of them. Why is it that every negative thing that is written about them they have to read form the “party script”.

Don’t get me wrong – it’s great that such a staff team is united as one and comes out to defend each other but “OMG u slagged off me bitch, die you chav” get’s boring after the 2nd staff member weighs in let alone the 10th.

Where are the days of differing opinions? Everytime someone slates TI, every staff member writes the same old recycled rubbish more than likely not even reading what has been said.

Taking example of the replies means that there is nothing wrong with TI, They don’t don’t over moderate some areas and blatantly don’t under moderate others. The content is the best on the scene. And they have the best Mojo on the scene.

Quite frankly I believe nothing in that last paragraph – but that’s what the staff believe.

So in essence, The Damn Scene had it pretty much spot on that if you’re not a TI Fanboy then you ain’t nothing at TI.
